Group 21 - Stroop Booth

Project: Strooping Effect

Day One: 2/28

Today, we've been assigned our project, the "Stroop Effect", and have began discussion and decisions on Student Handout 11. With one of our group out today, it's a bit difficult but we are definitely managing. With the amount given to us today, deciding where to start is a bit of a complicated notion. We've decided to focus on the experimental part of the project, the visuals in essence. We were bouncing off the ideas of the colors and the possibility of more, including other fundamentals? We're intrigued.

Day Two: 3/3

A brand new day provided renewed energy to tackle the Student Handouts. It proved to be a bit of a challenge for the split up of responsibilities in Student Handout 11, but we dispersed the jobs evenly and fairly. Student Handout 12 highlighted new information about our project that we didn't exactly begin to think about, but got it down to a point. The Stroop Effect is a mind game where colors are spelled out and shaded in another color, challenging the visual stimulation and whether or not the stimuli will affect the way we read it.

Day Three: 3/4

The most challenging of the Handouts was decidedly 13 as by far, finding the studies and combining them proved to be a bit frustrating. All in all, it's working out through the couple bumps in the road. The last of the handouts proved to be a memory reminder, refreshing information we didn't really remember but no doubt learned in Biology. Independent variables, dependent variables; all we had inclinations of what it was but had our doubts. Confusion arose on our approach on the experiment. Whether colors and words and words and colors, it was a lot to process. We identified most, grabbing the metaphorical bull(s) by the horns and got a lot of progress done today.

3/12

Without much too do with most our duties fulfilled and our group back in action, we worked on a table we'll be using during Psych Fair. The table will record both errors and number correct in both trials given to our subject, not to mention the time in the available minute we give them to identify all 10 words. Otherwise the day was uneventful with not much to do but discuss and get ready for next week.

3/17

Today we discussed the directions we'd be giving on both the trial test on our parents Wednesday as well as Thursday on the school. The main function going down in our heads were easy to nitpick what to say, whether or not it actually comes out that way when we test it out is a mystery. Tomorrow, we'll work more with our poster and get all that needs to be done, preferably.

3/18

Finished with the greater some of our experiment, we've reflected on our duties we'd have to either overcome or no doubt exhibit tomorrow night. Instructions are a focus, what to say and when to say it, but complicated in logistical sense. We're a bit nervous in respects for tomorrow night and Thursday for the fair, but sure to make it. Also, tip of the day from Christina: Don't leave a water bottle unattended.

3/19

Today our challenge was to set up our poster, the stapler proving to be a worthy obstacle. Colors were very much involved and it bought our group, speaking for myself mostly, a sense of excitement for what is to come. A little short on time in the end, we scrambled to finish the board but our spirits not discouraged.

Group 9 - Ether the Void

2/28/14
heyyoo today our group found out our topic for the psychology fair is optical illusions! so we are still just starting out and getting organized. Our group today went over the different student handouts and determined who will being doing what in our group to make things easier. I will be doing the blog and each of us three will be finding a psychological study done on optical illusions to use it towards our research for our project. Leticia just started to find hers today and Nick did student handout 11 and I am about to start student handout 12 which is finding the psychological studies found by others which we are hoping to have done by Monday. Leaving us to only have number 2 on the student handout 13 and 14, and 15 to start working on Monday in class.

3/3/14
Today we finished student handout 11 and 12 and now we are all working on finding an experiment that has to deal with optical illusions and filling out the information they used on the experiment. Then Nick is going to type up the summary that will show our work and talk about what we are going to do for a psych fair project and the information we found from our research of different experiments used in optical illusions.

3/4/14
Today we are still working on student hand out 13 and finding different studies relating to our topic of optical illusions. We are all almost done finding each study leaving Nick to type up step number 2 of hand out 13 then tomorrow we will most likely be starting student hand out 14. Me and Leticia will most likely work on student handout 14 together.3/5/14
Today we finished up on handout 14 and finished handout 13 last night leaving us with only having to find the variables of our experiment. We also formed our thesis statement on handout 14 which was that there are a dominant perception in optical illusions. Then tomorrow we will start handouts 16 and 17.

3/6/14
Today we are filling out handouts 16 and 17 because we finished handouts 11-15 early yesterday. We are also figuring out what optical illusion we are going to use during our experiment which will most likely be figure ground illusions. We plan on having different pictures of optical illusions having participants take a survey on what images they perceive.

3/7/14
Our group today finished handouts 16 and 17 earlier today and now we are doing handout 19 and trying to think of a name for our booth. And plan on buying the trifold poster this weekend and bringing it Monday or Tuesday.  And most likely we will put the optical illusions on the poster with one main optical illusion for the participant to survey.

3/10/14
Our group today finished handouts 19 and 20 and are almost done with handout 18 with describing our activities and explaining our hypothesis. We are hoping to also have our trifold poster by tomorrow and begin deciding which illusion we want to use.

3/11/14
Today we finished up our last handout which was handout 18 and renamed our booth title to Enter the Void instead of What do you see? I bought the trifold poster last night and I am bringing it tomorrow to school to begin organizing the design of the poster. And we also began looking at different fore-ground images that we could use for our experiment.

3/12/14
Today we finished are questions that we are going to ask the participants during our experiments on the QR. We also brought in our trifold poster board today and have started deciding where we are going to put our information and images. We found 3 images also that we are going to use as our foreground images that we are going to test the participants on.

3/17/14
Today we are working on our poster and figuring out where we should put different images and what kind of facts we need to put on it. We printed out our main images that we are going to test participants on and plan on printing out the facts and our hypothesis tonight.

3/18/14
Today we are just putting everything on the poster and organizing it how we want then tonight Nick is printing out our hypothesis and information that we need on it. He plans on putting all of that on tomorrow in class then me and Lety are going to just fix anything that needs to fixed up on the poster.

3/19/14
heewoo so today we finished making our poster by putting all of the facts and directions to make our experiment possible. We have candy also for the participants and we are all ready for psych fair. #freuditup

3/20/14
Soo0o0o0o0o0o today is psych fair and things are going pretty well we are getting a lot of participants which is probably because of our candy!

Group 13 - Duck Buddies

3/4/14 - Today we configured the details to our experiment for Competition vs. Cooperation. Our experiment consists of two bins full of water and rubber ducks. None of the ducks in the water squeak except for one. The challenge is to find the duck that squeaks as fast as possible while blindfolded. In the first sequence of the experiment, there will be two competitors. Each competitor will have their own bin of ducks to search through while blindfolded. The object is to get a faster time than the opponent. This sequence represents a game with competitive qualities. In the second sequence, the person with the best time will remain blindfolded while the loser takes their blindfold off. The losing person will now help direct the blindfolded person to find the duck that squeaks (which will be visually distinguishable from the non-squeaking ducks). This sequence of the experiment exerts cooperative qualities using two people that were once competitors. The winning time from the competitive sequence will then be compared to the time it took for the cooperative task to be completed in order to see whether competition or cooperation garners more success.

3/7/14 - Today we figured out how many trials we need to do in order to get our sufficient amount of experiment participants. We gathered together what materials we need and how we will obtain them. We tried to figure out the name of our booth but we couldn't think of anything clever just yet.

3/10/14 - Today we brainstormed on the name of the experiment. We decided to make a pun on "The Trucking Game" experiment in psychology and call our booth "The Duck-ing Game". We're so funny it's insane. We also discussed the materials that we would need and we actually figured out where we need to go to get these items. We decided that we'll all make a trip together to Wal-Mart, Five Below & Party City to get everything we need for the experiment which includes things such as the rubber ducks (Obviously), gallons of water, and large bins to contain everything in. I also drew the diagram for our experiment and it looked absolutely atrocious because I'm not an artist, but I don't think it matters too much. We also took a picture that none of us were ready for. We'll look better tomorrow. We promise.

3/17/14 - Over the long weekend, Natalie, Diana & I went to a bunch of stores to get our materials. We decided to go with a little bit of a different plan for our experiment. Instead of having all ducks in the water and having one that squeaks, we picked up 2 packs of assorted floating animals. Instead, we will tell the test subjects to find a specific animal on each trial. With our new plan, we also came up with a new name for the booth, "Duck Buddies." Today we worked on our poster board for the project as well.

3/18/14 - Today we mostly worked on our poster board. We finished up the titles at the top and we began printing out pictures of the animal bath toys that we're using in our experiment. We still have a lot of work to do.

3/19/14 - Today we met in the mezzanine during our lunch period to print some things out for the poster. We ended up printing out the rules, experiment explanation, directions for the experiment, cartoon riddles and some more visuals. We actually got a lot accomplished during just one hour, and we still have all of next hour to work on our poster board as well!

group 26 - Monocular Mario

So today (3/19/14) kyle has the poster done but he left it at his house. he checked and his N64 does work so we will be in business tomorrow. lets hope things go smoothly tomorrow.

so today (3/20/14) is the big day and so far no problems we are finding out that two eyes are working better then one eye. A few times today one eye has done better then both eyes. I'm still confused on how to upload videos and pictures. But i will figure it out. so far im suprised that a girl has the best time of the day
So far my group is having a blast doing this because the experiment we are doing is fun. From what i have been seeing people are having fun doing this experiment. It is also fun to see some of the reactions of people doing our experiment. The one big problem we have been seeing is that we are having a big crowed around and its just confusing who is up next. AS the day went on we got more bored.

group 29 - Total Sense Recall

experiment

1.a run of three different sense and memory test: hearing, touch, and taste.

I want to see which one participants will remember the most accurately.

I haven't gotten very far in my experiment, but I'm excited to do the research.
I hope people find it interesting.
I was debating about making it into a competition at the end.
and look at the characteristics of the winner
ask them their method of memorization.

, but I guess I'll just have to think about the pros and cons of a competition for part of the experiment.

I have to get my research articles together. I'm thinking of getting one article on each sense and how well people often memorize them. Then a fourth article on which methods people use most to memorize each and how effective they are.

3/10/14

I should have some lay outs for analysis questions for each type of test that's going to be run. I decided that it's not going to be a competition due to the fact that it would probably make the stakes higher for each participant. I need to make sure the participants don't feel pressured in any way in order for the tests to run more easy.

I will also put the descriptions of each test a bit more in detail later.
I still have to do some case study analyses, but those should be finished by Wednesday hopefully.

3/11/14

gotta go buy some suckers an pick out a stick to poke people with. and create a list for both touch and hearing.

3/12/14

still gotta get those articles and plot the steps to each test. I also have to but all the suckers, the poking stick, and a fair poster.  I should be done by the end of tomorrow for sure.

psych fair is fun.

Group 24 - Movies, Music, and Moods

2/28/14

Hi! Today was the first day looking deeper into our topic/experiment, my experiment consists of music and movies and how they change the mood of someone while watching the movies. For example, in a movie a woman could be at a fancy dinner for her anniversary with her lover and suddenly dramatic music kicks in and the viewers went from happy to scared or surprised just because of the music. I do not know too much information on why music changes the mood of a viewer, so my partner and I are interested in learning more. Hopefully the work doesn't become overwhelming for the two of us!

3/3/14

Finally, my partner and I started organizing our information and started to research specifically why music is put into movies. We found out that music is often used to direct viewers emotional response, catch ones attention, and to help intensify and help the audience feel what the actors are feeling. Also, while listening to music, the part of the brain that releases dopamine and serotonin during pleasurable activities, is activated while music is playing. You would think it would be difficult to get all of this work done between two partners, but we are getting a lot of it done and divided equally.

3/4/14

Today we finished our pages they are suppose to be due on Thursday, now we are going to start finding 3 psychology studies that relate to our music, movie experiment. By finding these 3 studies, it will help us understand more about our topic and we can use these later when writing about our background research. My partner and I also divided up the work for this psychology fair project. For example, we divided up who will research or review the literature of our topic, the rough draft, who will come up with the creation of activities, the ideas for visual display, assembling of materials, booth set-up, clean-up, and the final paper, which I mentioned earlier in this blog. The work for this psychology fair is pretty easy so far!

3/5/14

In my blog yesterday, I mentioned my partner and I started to research 3 studies that will help us understand more about our topic and when we write about our background research. In class, we found study's that were done at the University of Missouri on an online website. On the website it explained in the Journal of Consumer Research, a study was found that people who are going through break-ups or having relationship problems prefer music and experiences that reflect their negative and sad mood. The one study showed that the preference for sad music was higher when people were going through the loss of a friend or disappointed in their self. Another study showed when people were presented with frustrating situations and were asked to rate angry music versus joyful music, participants liked angry music more when they were frustrated by interpersonal experiences than impersonal problems. For example, losing a friendship versus not having a cell phone charger. A couple other studies were explained on the website as well that explained how happy music increased a persons happiness. I believe this website and the articles on it, really helped with explaining mood relating to music and social situations!

3/6/14

In class, we were introduced the next steps for our experiment. My partner and I needed to decide if we wanted required characteristics for our participants. We want to survey all students, freshman through seniors, and we wanted to survey both, boys and girls. Our participants will be tested in groups of three and it does not matter if others watch while this survey is being preformed because our participants are going to have headphones in and we are measuring a persons mood, so every participants reactions/moods can be different. To measure the participants moods, we are going to use a scale 1 through 10. 1 is going to be sad and 10 is going to be happy. This survey will take about 2 minutes for each participants to fill out as well.

3/7/14

By the end of the class period, we need to have handouts 16 and 17 done. Yesterday we finished handout 16, which talked about the characteristics of our participants and how we will measure their moods. On handout 17, we needed to create a hypothesis. Our hypothesis is that the participants mood will alter specifically to each movie they watch. We also needed to make sure our background information is available to us, we have access to materials if we need to make a request for them, we will have enough time for our 200+ trials, and etc. Everything for our experiment is falling into place!

3/10/14

After returning from the weekend, it was time to start working on our experiment! In class we needed to start our rough draft. The rough draft is a preview of our knowledge about our experiment and it is suppose to explain certain psychological research or studies that relate to our topic of how music in movies affects a viewers mood. Also, we needed to list the materials we are going to need to preform our experiment and how we are going to set it up. My partner and I believe it is going to be better for our participants if we isolated them behind a temporary wall while watching the movie clips. We also need to start working on our presentation poster!

3/11/14

Today my partner and I started to look for graphs and pictures to put onto our poster board. We thought it would be a creative idea to put pictures relating to our title onto the board. For example, under mood we put the theatrical happy and sad faces. A lot of the graphs we found online also help explain how music affects a persons mood, which is going to help our participants understand our experiment visually.

3/12/14

Continuing on our poster, in class we looked for more pictures that relate to our experiment and graphs. On the poster, we have our title and a couple pictures up. We need to gather a couple points of information to add to our poster. My partner and I also discussed what movie clips we are going to show to our participants. One possible example is the ending scene in Titanic, which would be the sad clip and the happy clip may possibly be from the movie 500 Days of Summer. The experiment is coming together!

3/17/14

In class, my partner and I are still working on our poster. We decided to put two questions on our poster that will have bullet points of information under them. One of the questions will be, "How does music relate to mood?" and the other questions will be, "How does music affect a movie scene and a viewers emotion?". These two questions answer the basic information for our experiment. We will continue to research and take information we already have and put it into bullet points for these two questions.

3/18/14

For our poster, we decided to put two questions on it that I stated in our blog yesterday. Today we created the bullet points for this poster. For example, under the question " How does music affect a movie scene and a viewers emotion?", we explained that in the 2007 horror Paranormal Activity, audiences reported really high fear levels even though there was barely any action onscreen. It is believed this was caused by the use of low frequency sound waves. Also another bullet point explains that regions of the brain that light up with music are those linked to euphoric stimuli such as food, sex and drugs. After we put the bullet points onto this poster, we need a couple more materials for our participants and we will be ready to pull off our experiment.

3/19/14

Finally, my partner and I finished out poster! Tonight we are going to set up our booth and have our parents come to school to test out our experiments. Our parents coming to test our experiments will help all of the psychology fair students fix the mistakes and little bumps in our experiments. My partner and I are excited to introduce out  experiment to our our fellow students in the psychology fair tomorrow. It will be a great oppurtunity to see what we have learn and see if our experiment was worth while.

3/20/14

Today was the day of the psychology fair! It was a very long day to say the least, but it was a fun experience and I believe my partner and I were very pleased on how many students wanted to try out our experiment. I would say we had about 200 participants throughout the day, but a alot of them did not use the QR code scanners. My partner and I would love to preform an experiment in the psycology fair again!

Group 8 - Apples to Onions

pu3/3- Finished student handout 12 and 15
3/4- What is good my fellow psych lovers?! Today we were very determined and worked very very hard on handouts 11 and 13! can't wait to work again tomorrow!
3/5- Greetings my psych homies! We have completed all the worksheets that are due tomorrow! Our experiment is looking great and is coming together perfectly. We will definitely be fooling the participants with out odor perception experient! Can't wait for you all to jump on board the psych train during psych fair!
👀
👃
👅
3/6 "Ogres are like onions" (Shrek) Today we have changed our experiment to make it a little more exciting for not only us but for the participants! We are ahead of the game and have finished both handouts 16 + 17 and are getting started on 18,19,+ 20! An apple🍎 a day keeps the doctor away (just a little hint)

3/10 We have finished handouts 18,19,&20! We have also discussed who is going to the store and buying our supplies! Tomorrow we will be working on  our poster board!

3/11 Today we didn't have much to do! we thought of things to put up on the poster board but that was it!

3/12 All we did today was plan out how the poster board is going to be!  Such a productive day

3/20 it's psych fair day!

some subjects action shots
most of the results are saying the apple taste more like onion rather than tasting like Apple
our apples are slowly turning more brown but our experiment is still working as planned

Group 23 - Levitation and Height Perception

Experiment:Levitation Board

2/28/14
Today our group received our topic experiment. We will be exploring the idea of height perception. To demonstrate this we will be using a levitation board experiment. Our plan is not final but we are sure we will be using a balance board and a blindfold to deceive a person's height perception. In class, we split up the work and plans that will be due on Thursday and got started. We look forward to sharing more on our experiment before our big day at the psych fair!

3/3/14
Today our group finished up the papers that are due on Thursday regarding our experiment. Tonight I just have to write a rough draft for our experiment paper which explains our experiment and compares it to other similar experiments. Our group also discussed how taking away a persons sense of sight will disturb their height perception. We also talked about how we will trick people into believing they were actually lifted in the air while blindfolded. We still have a long way to go but we are off to a great start!

3/4/14
Today our group discussed our rough draft, and got started on that. Besides the rough draft we have everything we need to have done this week, and are really keeping up with our work.  So far we are on the right track, have been learning a lot about the subject of our experiment, and are very excited to start designing it soon!

3/5/14
Today our group worked on student handout 13 and researched other experiments that can be related to ours. Finding all of the information and writing the two paragraphs took the whole entire class period.

3/6/14
Today our group was just finishing up our paragraphs for student handout 13. We also finished 16 and 17 so we are all caught up on our work, and will start on the new handouts tomorrow.

3/7/14
Today our group turned in 16 and 17, and then worked on student handout 18,19 and 20. We all talked about plans for our experiments setup and who will get what supplies and how we will make a wall to hide our "levitating" people. We are also deciding on our booth title.

3/10/14
Today three of our group members discussed supplies and who will get what. We finished planning our both and decided to name it "Levitation and Height Perception". We also finished handouts 18 and 20 and just have to finish up 18 by tomorrow.

3//11/14
Today our group designed our display board and got started on putting it together. We also wrote and finished the rough draft. We still have a lot to do with psych fair starting next Thursday!

3/12/14
Today our group worked on our visual for our display board. We also discussed other information that we will be putting on our board. Next week we will just have to practice the execution of our experiment and putting our display board together.

3/17/12
Today our group worked on our plan for the display board. We typed up our experiment explanation and got our QR code for people to scan. We also made a worksheet with follow-up questions for anyone without a smartphone.

3/18/12
Today our group started putting things onto our board. So far we have our boarder, group number, and our visual. Tomorrow we just need to put on our explanation, research question, graph, names, title and QR code. We will also have an interactive aspect on one end of our poster. We hope we will be ready for the parents!

3/19/12
Today our group finished our board. Two of our group members went to parent night and it went great! We are excited for the real deal tomorrow!

3/20/12
Today was the last day of psych fair and a lot of people came! Our group was busy doing levitation demonstrations nonstop almost every hour. It was funny how so many people actually believed they were being lifted into the air. The day seemed very long but it was laid back and fun as well.!

Group 25 - Letter 26 = Color 3 (Perception)

March 17, 2014
We are three days away from Psychology Fair. The last big thing we must work on by then is our poster that will be presented at the fair. I will post photos of the progression of it. Instead of using hundreds of pieces of paper for our survey we will be using a QR code. With the QR code students may scan it with their smart phone and it will open the survey being conducted. This is a very efficient way for us to save paper and collect our data in one place. Going through every individual survey would be tedious and human error seems inevitable when you have a few hundred papers to go over. I'm glad we found a better we to do this.

March 10, 2014
It has been some time since I've made any posts but I'm back and will be regularly updating from here on out. We have covered all the basics for conducting an experiment and how that will apply to ours.
While working on the project we had to find similar (or the same) studies that have already been done. When doing that, I did not find any study exactly the same as what we will be doing. I am very excited to see what comes of it.
The point of our experiment is to find out if there is a connection between letters of the English alphabet and specific colors; if there is, I am hoping to be able to find out what influences it. Even more so if there is a connection between vowels or something of the sort. All of the students who are taking part in the fair will be wearing shirts that say "PINK FREUD" in pink text, and I thought maybe even those letters will be answered as pink because the participants will be seeing that all through out the fair. I honestly don't know what will come if it, but I am very excited for the results.

February 28, 2014
Before jumping into the first post I would like to acknowledge the new member of our group, Thomas, who I am excited to work with.
Today is the first day we got the chance to start working on our student hand out sheets. As of now we will be working on: dividing work between members of our group, finding the appropriate topic for our project, start a bit of research, form a hypothesis, and identify variables for our activity. Our other member, Alex, wasn't in class today; but on Monday we can all get together and get on the same page. I'm excited to finally be started on this.

Group 27 - Smell Your Way to Better Grades

Day 1: First day for the preparation of psych fair in class we received what project were doing, our project is called "Smell your way to better grades". My partner and I have a good understanding to what we are suppose to do. Our teacher gave us a ton of papers that need to be accomplished with in the next week, they all seem pretty easy and not so hard to finish. We began comparing our experiments to other experiments by searching in Google the closet thing that compares to our project. Not many things popped up but we can take bits by bits and add on to make our experiment. Day one has come to end and it seems like the rest of our project will be pretty easy.
  :)

Day 2: Second day on our projects, everyone working hard and tedious. Were beginning the sheets assigned to us to finish and due Thursday. We finished the thesis for our essay and we are going to begin our rough draft. We are using Google allot but the point of using Google is to figure out ways to make our project better and more interesting.

Day 3: Our third day and were beginning to put together the packet of papers that are due, we had to compare things and show the effects a certain variable had on our project, simple but makes a person think and go back into what we learned in Psychology 1. My partner Amanny isn't here but we had discussed what we thought should be done by the end of Tuesday and isn't hard to complete.

Day 4: We are working on student handouts 11-15 because they are due tomorrow. We are really struggling with student handout 13 because it is very hard.

Day 5: Student handout 11-15 are due by the end of class today. We are done with them but I am still working on student handout 13. Amanny is working on student handout 16 and 17 because they are due tomorrow.

Day 6: Student handout 16 and 17 are due by the end of class today. We are finishing up a couple questions and decisions that need to be made about our experiment.

Day 7: I was absent from the group but my partner Amanny kept me up to date by texting me and making sure we stay on task and that i have the rough draft done for Tuesday, that was apart of my job, and she bought the poster that was for out booth, at this moment me missing class really didn't effect the way we work because we were still up to date.

Day 8: Today I was back and Amanny was explaining what we did yesterday, the rough draft was due with our checklist and we have our poster ready and set to begin, i have to print out words for the poster and pictures that go with our booth.

Day 9: We are working on our poster we has to set up a checklist of all the things we have to do, psych fair is close and we have to be quick and efficient in the things we do so we can be done and prepared for it.
Day 10: Its almost psych fair time, things are moving quick and things are due. We bought chocolate for the reward for our participants. We are finishing our posters, on ours we put things that have meaning to our project.
Day 11: We finished out poster and everything is set and ready tomorrow is night psych fair when the parents attend our project and see all the hard work that was put into it.
Day12: Today s the big day the first day we have people coming to see our work. Mr.Vuillaume  explained the step by step that has to occur during the psych fair for the parents. During class he allowed us to add final touch to our posters and let us figure out how will do everything. We have to come into school at 5, parents come to school at 6. We get in at school around 5 and we enter the PAC foyer this is where we start. We pick a table that we will conduct our project on. We put a table cloth on to start we place our poster on the table standing up. Then we place the QR codes basically the participants will be asked to scan it and answer a survey that corresponds to the project. It hits 6 o'clock and we have to begin, everyone is nervous to begin their projects, Amanny and I are doing our project and feel confident doing it. People are coming to our booth we ask them to step to Amanny, Amanny then tells them im going to read you a series of 25 words and then im going to ask you to write them down on a piece of paper. They then conduct what was asked, they then are asked to step down to my side of the table and then i ask then to smell the scented variable and then i ask them to remember the 25 words that are the same as before, with the scented people seem to remember more then without the scent. The day has came to end we put our poster down and begin along day tomorrow, we had many people come to our table today, they did pretty good and the results have been consistent throughout.
Day 13: Psych Fair is here! Everyone is pretty calm, everyone is setting up and trying to make sure everything is perfect. Posters are being put up, chocolate is placed everyone is walking around wishing everyone luck. Let the day begin, it was pretty slow in the beginning and then a flood of kids came it was hectic and fun to see kids reaction and wonder how it worked. At the end of the day we had a good outcome no more candy was left and we had our surveys done and listed and ready to do a report. Psych Fair has come to an end it was really fun doing and made our minds work, id love yo do it and my partner and i had a fun time working together.

Group 22 - Maze Reward Learning

February 28th, 2014
-Pretty exciting day today! We got the maze and we're all pretty pumped! It's going to take a good amount of work but we are ready to take it on and make it memorable one. Can't wait to start!

March 3rd, 2014
-Getting a good amount of work done and moving along swiftly. Research on latent learning is going well and can't wait to start our maze design! Good day to have the maze!

March 4th, 2014
-The packet is starting get a little difficult but we are powering through. We're just ready for the building process to begin, the wait is killing us!

March 5th, 2014
-Happy Wednesday everyone! It's a great day here in psych II, on track to to finish our handouts. The only part we have been having trouble with was our paragraph and handout 15. We soon to be will overcoming it and moving on to our next task. Can't wait to keep moving! Once again happy day eagles!

March 6th, 2014
-Today packets are due and we have Handouts 11,12,14, and 15 done, now just finishing up now on 13; It's definitely a killer. Some of the experiments we are seeing from handouts 13 are really helping us understand our true purpose in using the maze. Lots of good ideas going around and close to having a set plan. Until tomorrow, have a good one fellow eagles!

March 7th, 2014
-Today we got back our handouts and on handout 13 we didn't do so hot. We seemed to struggle with the whole concept. After talking to Mr. Vuillaume we our back and track and instead of using latent leaning we will be using reward based learning. Little bit of a twist but close to the same concept. Just finished handouts 16 and 17, now working on 18, 19, and 20. Psych Fair is coming quick but we are all excited. Have a great day fellow eagles!

March 10th, 2014
-Got some sad news today, we will not be designing the maze but will be receiving plans already made-up. (Sad Face) :( Besides that let down, I'm still excited to start building. We are moving well on the handouts and should probably be done tomorrow. This three day week will we a bit of a killer to get work done but it is a much needed short week mentally. Till tomorrow have a great day eagles!

March 11th, 2014
-Stop the presses! Great news today on the maze, we got to create our own maze design! It's awesome! It's going to be awesome messing with people! I got a great feeling about this one! Got all the handouts done and now we really can't wait to start building! Get ready eagles, it's going to be a tricky! Until tomorrow, Have a great day eagles!

March 12th, 2014
-Happy Wednesday eagles! Last day this week and we got a good foundation laid for our experiment. Our maze is designed and all of our handouts are done. We now are just working on our poster and have some good ideas on what will be done. Monday we start our construction of our design and can't wait to start! Hopefully we can be finished by Tuesday but not to worried! Until Monday fellow eagles, have a safe and great 4-day weekend!

March 17th, 2014
-Very exciting day today! we began the construction of our maze! We were here bright and early this morning to start construction. We got much done this morning and look to finish the skeleton by the end of today! Stay posted as we keep you updated on our crazy maze! Have a great day fellow eagles!

March 18th, 2014
-We finished our skeleton yesterday and began constructing walls with large black tarps. It's been a good amount of work but we have gotten a good amount done and finished the outer walls. We have gotten the toughest part done and now time for the best part putting our design to work! Can't wait to let you all know how it goes tomorrow! Until then Have a great day!

March 19th, 2014
-We have finished! We're done with our construction and now time to mess with some people! We just put up our last wall and at 6 parents will be coming for a trial run! Parents won't know what hit them! Everyone is too excited here and I can't to hear reactions! Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow! Good luck! Have a great day eagles!

March 20th, 2014
-The day has arrived and it's been a little weird! We have had times across the board! Our best time for hour was 28 seconds and our worst time was 3 minutes and 14 seconds. Keep posed throughout the day and you will receive reactions and best and worst times from the hour! Happy Psych Fair to everyone and good luck!

Group 28 - Your iPod Controls your Mind

Day 1- Renée and I had a lot of stuff thrown at us today but we are very excited to be presenting our psychology project to our school. We intend to work very hard to make it really super AWESOME!! Our topic is based around reactions to different types of music.  We plan to totally psych you guys out.

Day 2- Renée isn't going to be here on Monday so it looks like I'm on my own for a little bit, but I'm not worried, Renée and I work very well together and trade off jobs easily. As of right now I have at least started every student handout except SH13 because I'm a little unclear of the instructions but Renée knows exactly what to do so I plan on asking her.

Day 3- so as it turns out, Renée is here on Monday!! :)  which is a big help to me because now i can get started on the handout  i was confused about.  another plus is that since shes here, a few questions that i wanted to ask her about our experiment can be answered.  such as if we should test the participants on groups or individually or if we need a power outlet (which we did so I'm glad i asked).  always make sure you get your partners phone number!! this way you can call each other or text about what to do for the experiment.

Day 4-  Today is going to be a very productive day for Renée and i because we still need to finish student handout 13 and create a thesis.  However, other than that we are pretty ahead of the game.

Day 5- As we are winding down on the work load for the week, Renée and I just have to finish student handout 13 (mostly me) and then we can work on the last 2 handouts that he hasn't even assigned yet.  this puts us largely ahead of the game and I'm really pleased with our progress.

Day 6- Renée and I have finished all but one handout and that's the one I have to do (the rough draft for the full project) I plan to finish that this weekend and hand it in when we go back to school, then it's just buying the equipment and making the booth good :)

Day 7- Renée and I are all done with our project!!! Yay!!!! :)  all we have left to do is to make the poster which I have already bought. Today, we reviewed the music that we are gonna have our participants listen to and we turned in our rough draft and SH19 and SH20.

Day 8- Being done with all our worksheets puts us really ahead to work on the poster for Psych Fair :). Renée has some cute ideas to put mood rings and CDs on the table to catch the eyes of participants, we hope to get through around 100 people! That's a lot!!! Were both really really excited and hope that you guys like our experiment :).

Day 9- All done!!! Yay! Renée and I still have a bit to do on the poster (pretty much me because I'm in charge of the poster.  There's only a few more components that need to be placed on :) then it's finished!!

Day 10- Well it's the day before the psych fair!!! Were both really excited.  Everything is done and we have a run through tonight with our parents.  I've go to run home and collect a little bit of material for us to use and then come back :)

PSYCH FAIR! - so today is going really really well :) we've already had about 50 participants each!!!! One kid asked his friend "are you listening to people scream?" And his friend said "no,I'm listening to waterfalls" and he said "well i am" and later asked me to "make it stop" lol it was so tiny cuz his friend was laughing the entire time. That was the best part so far :)

Group 19 - Are you Anxious?

Day One: Welcome to our blog for Psych Fair! We are both very excited to be participating in this and sharing our personal experiences with you via pictures, stories, and possibly some videos as well. Today is the first day of our project and so far all we know about it is that we are doing an experiment that deals with anxiety. Some questions we could eventually answer are: What makes people anxious? How much does fear play into anxiety? How do people develop anxiety? and How can people conquer it? Hopefully this project will allow us to answer some of those questions. Our experiment will be something to do with taking peoples cell phones, seeing their reactions, observing their anxiety levels and so on. We are not really sure how we will be doing this, or weather or not we want to take it without them noticing, or just straight up ask them for it. The hardest part right now for me personally is trying to figure out how to be organized because our teacher explained everything more in depth today and it seems really overwhelming. We have four sheets that we have to fill out by March 6th and I feel like I wont have time to do them all because i'm busy with other classes so this will be interesting how it works out. It probably doesn't help that a lot of things are still up in the air with our topic, but I guess it'll work itself out. It's day one and I am already ready to fast forward to the part where we collect data and get out of class! Haha. Wish us luck! :)

Day two: Today my partner is back, so we got through every worksheet assigned expect two of them which is fantastic because all of them are not due until this Thursday and it's only Monday!! The worksheets were a lot easier than expected and if we were confused or needed help our teacher was there so it was pretty painless. I personally feel a lot better since were kind of ahead of the rest of the class. Also our experiment is not as difficult as anticipated there are a lot of articles about it to help us as well. Were making some great progress!!

Day Three:  We are now realizing that the "paper" we had to write inst really a paper but only two paragraphs and it is my partners job to write it. We already found the three articles we needed to complete it as well so it will be a lot easier for her to write it. Shes working on that today, and I have completed the last two worksheets that were assigned to us last Friday. We are still ahead of everyone and are going to have two free days that we will probably use to get even more ahead if that is possible otherwise we will just take them to relax a bit :) The worksheets so far have been fairly easy to fill out and our teacher has still been very helpful, even with all the stupid questions I've been asking lately! We are happy to be this far ahead of the rest of our class it is definitely a feeling of accomplishment!

Day Four: Alright, tomorrow all the sheets we have been working on for the first half of the project are due tomorrow and we are still ahead as we have been all week, which makes us very happy people! My partner is finishing up the 2nd paragraph that we had to type out about what exactly our project is and the studies we had to look up, shes almost done. We have the rest of the period to just relax now! Tomorrow our teacher is going to explain the next half of the project, so nothing left to do for now.

Day 5:  Today is Friday and we have already successfully finished all the other work pages assigned to us that are due Monday. They we were assigned yesterday so we are still doing really good with staying ahead of things. It is also very easy to stay ahead because we get class time to do this so we never have homework! We also finished all our work so Monday will be a free day again which is really nice since no one wants to actually do work on a Monday. Next step is to begin making our tri-fold poster thing, but were creative people so that will be fun for us.

Day 6: We are proud to announce that we are still ahead of the game, and it feels amazing to be so prepared. Our teacher wasn't kidding when he said this will be painless. I didn't believe him at first, but so far it really has been which is nice. We don't get homework for the project which makes this assignment virtually not stressful at all! It's been a breeze so far I hope it stays like this.

Day 7: Today we have our poster board that we bought from target yesterday, and we bought a lot of neon things to make it look awesome so were really excited. We had some trouble though, the poster blew away in the wind and we had to look like idiots running after a tri-fold in the target parking lot. We are currently taping things onto our poster tri-fold and when we ware done with it we will upload a picture for you guys to see! We bought some foam circle things so we can make our tri-fold look like an Iphone as well and we are still up to date with all the work sheets. Now we get a nice relaxing four day weekend!

Day 8: We have discussed our layout and know exactly how were going to set it up. We got some light up stars, lots of circles, old cell phones, and some awesome-sauce information that will really knock your socks off! Our poster bored is very bright, more like neon pink, blue and green, but it is sure to grab everyone's attention. Psych-fair in two days wish us luck!

Psych Fair Trial Day And Psych Fair:

Our Video!

Group 15 - Music and Mood

2/28/14

Today we started going through the packet as a class to get a better understanding of what we need to work on next week. The work may seem a little overwhelming now, but we feel that once we have a better understanding of our actual project theme, it will get easier. We started looking up research and experiments done on music and mood, hopefully this will give us some ideas on what we want to do for the fair exactly.

3/3/14

Because we did a lot of explaining on Friday, we just started really getting to work today. We have been researching experiments done with mood and music to help us complete one of our first assignments. This is crucial because it gives us so much insight on our topic, and helps us create ideas for our future project.

3/4/14

Today we finished researching different experiments. We have a pretty good idea of where we want to go with our project, but as far as meeting deadlines goes, we are doing very well. We may start working ahead to get some things out of the way towards the end of the week. But overall, so far so good. Below is a video we watched that we found very interesting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bipE0LsYmv0

3/5/14

Today we began writing our summary paper on our research. We may have to work on some of it at home, but it seems like it wont be too hard to make some connections between the research and our project.

3/6/14

Today we began SH 16 that is due tomorrow. It's basically a step by step outline on what we will be doing for our project. We are starting to brain storm on what we need to do to make sure everything in our project is successful now, so we don't run into issues later.  We'll most likely start working on SH 17 tomorrow.

3/7/14

Today we did 2/3 SH that are due on Tuesday. We are deciding exactly what we want our poster to look like. We want to do something neat and organized that also attracts people.

3/10/14

Today we finished up SH 18 19 and 20. Now we have some time to start planning out our poster. We just need to decide exactly what research we want to put on it and how it will grab peoples attention.

3/11/14

Today we planned out our poster and materials. We are going to need to buy headphones and sanitary wipes so materials wont be too expensive. We are going to start working on our poster this weekend so we arent too stressed during our big week next week.

3/17/14

Today I worked on the poster at home, while Kevin and Danielle worked on planning out the last supplies we need.

3/18/14

Today we finished up our poster, our booth is pretty much ready to go. We just need to go get some smaller supplies tonight like candy. But we feel well prepared.

Group 20 - Real? or Fake?

2/28/14: We got assigned the fake hand experiment. We need to get a fake hand. We plan on our set up consisting of the fake hand, a person willing to participate, and a poster or card board acting as a divider between the fake and real hand. One of us will brush the fake hand with a brush, another one of us will brush the person's real hand on the other side of the divider, and the third person in our group will hit the fake hand to see if the person will flinch; since they would be thinking that the fake hand is their real hand.
Finished student handout 11, 12, 14.

 3/3/14: Finished handout 15

3/5/14: The three of us finished our student hand out 13. It took about the whole period, it wasn't hard to do. The handouts so far have been pretty easy, the longest handout was 13 because we had to find an article and read it. The rest of the handouts we usually completed more than one in one day.

3/6/14: We finished student handout 16 and 17. We are getting ready to find the fake hand.

3/7/14: We turned in our student hand outs 16 and 17. We are planning on getting a fake hand tonight, if not definitely this weekend.

3/10/14: We completed student handouts 19 and 20 in class. We will work on student handout 18 at home which is the rough draft. We will get the poster board tonight for class.

3/11/14: We turned in student handouts 18, 19, and 20. We have our tri-fold poster in class.

3/12/14: We made plans about working on our project over the weekend and we will go find a fake hand tomorrow (3/13/14).

3/13/14: Moe and Jordan went to buy the fake hand at Riley's Trick Shop then we went to Moe's house to test out the experiment on his family members. We had some problems with it but we will work on that. We started to plan out the poster.

3/17/14: We Started to work on the poster.

3/18/14: We finished the poster.

3/19/14: We're setting up for parent night. We will fix what needs to be fixed.

3/20/14: We're in our break at psych fair. Most of the participants have felt numbess and have flinched.

Group 14 - How horror movies affect your blood pressure

Horror Movies: A Silent Killer

This project is a little confusing for me and my partner. We are having a hard time finding experiments to summarize. Finally we found 3 but I would suggest looking up studies by changing the topic you look up (ex: fear studies to studies of fears) it helped out a lot.

3/4/14 Today we decided that are experiment is going to be on fear and how there blood pressure would rise. We are going to take their blood pressure before they and then we will make them watch a clip from a scary movie( yet to be decided) and then right after take their blood pressure again.

3/5/14 We started our summarizing project background research. It was a difficult process to get the information that we needed but we eventually found it and we are going to put it into paragraph form tomorrow during class.

3/6/14 We finished the packet pages and we started the next pages that are due tomorrow. It took a while but we got it done.

3/7/14 We finished the pages 16 and 17. We also figured out how we are going to do our experiment. We decided that we are going to put the computer with the clip in a dark corner to try to make the effect of a movie theater. We are also going to face the computer away from the crowd so they cant see what is going on during the movie. If it was it would ruin the experiment's data. So far, so good!

3/10/14 We made our shopping list for our booth. They things that we need to buy include: a 3-fold poster, sanitize wipes(for the head phones), and candy(they're teenagers...come on)! We also just finished our rough draft from the packet.

3/11/14 Today we turned in the last handouts(18,19 &20) We also bought our 3 fold poster board which we got in black to go with our experiment.

3/16/14 Over the four day weekend I finished the poster board and started printing out the things we need on our poster. We also decided to use the color combo of black, gold and red so  Our poster pops! I also decided to use a unique font to make it look creepy.

3/17/14 I put a few more pictures and visuals on my poster and i made a spread sheet for my data. I would suggest to make short quizzes that the participants can do wail they are waiting their turn. some thing like "how well do you know scary movies?" and then do a description of the movie and the movie name on the back. you can also do it with different phobias or fears.

Day before psych fair: I set up my booth near an outlet so the blood pressure monitor can be plugged in. I also decided on using the movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre clip (5/5) because it was the only clip i could find that a of of people have not seen and it was scary enough for most people.

Day of Psych Fair: First period i noticed that sometimes the blood pressure monitor would not work if someone had a sweat shirt or a really thick shirt on. Also it is really hot in the PAC with the sun and black shirts. First period I only got to 10 people but a lot of people just stood around and did not go to booths at all. I need around 150-100 people so i have to try to get people to do my experiment, even though it takes a long time to do. 2nd hour I had some issues with the blood pressure monitor working but i just had to redo some participants blood pressure. I am not getting a lot of people because the experiment takes too long and they have to wait a long time in line. If i had to change something i would have changed how long it takes to do the experiment because it is affecting how many people I am getting. I have noticed that a lot of people's blood pressure is going down but a few people's have gone up.  I do not know if I will get to 150 people today but I will try to get to at least 100 or more.

group 11 - Obidence to Authority

2/28/14 - Our project will be exploring the concept obedience to authority. We hope you enjoy. :3

3/3/14-

13:27- We're not really sure exactly what our project will be, but we're working on it.

13:35-We're thinking that we'll just tell the participants to do silly things and then asking why they did so afterward. As the students working as the experimenters, we would be a sort of 'authority'. We are beginning the research on our topic, including articles about the Milgram Experiment. Information about it will most likely be included in our visual display.

Day 3:

13:24-  We are completing sections 11-15 in our project packet. Fun, fun, fuun, fnu, ffn, ffffffnnn, nnnnnn...
The packet includes questions that will help us in creating our project.

13:45- We're continuing to look for information and examples on obedience to authority. We could possible use examples of obedience used in masses to explain just how much influence and authority can have. Here is an example with the Nuremberg Trials.

Day 4:

13:44- The Nuremberg Trials could be important information since it is an excellent example of what influence authority can have. (more information on trials here). Other dictators of WWII also seem to have had an immense amount of influence on their country by authority. (the NKVD, led by Josef Stalin, and the OVRA, led by Benito Mussolini). Also, we are sure about what we are doing as an experiment. :D

Day 5:

13:42 We have chosen what we are doing for our research. We will be telling participants to do certain actions that could possibly be described as going against social norms, but not to the point that it becomes embarrassing.

Day 6:

13:35- We have to finish parts 19-21 in our packets be the end of today. We also have to start planning on what the poster will be designed. It has to be one of those giant Elmer tri-fold posters. I will probably end up over-doing it and adding fancy borders and colorful, completely unnecessary decorations...kind of like what I've done to this blog...

13:47- Continuing to work on the packet. We've also come to the conclusion that we must have food of some kind at our table. It's not required for our experiment, but free food means more people will be willing to try our experiment. It's like we're rewarding them for participating. It's like our project is Obedience to Authority and Positive Reinforcement at the same time!

Day 7:
13:24- Psych Fair is in a week?!

It seems like yesterday when we had almost a month!

(deep breaths) Anyway, as mentioned several times before, our project is about Obedience to Authority. For our experiment, we will be commanding participants to do certain actions that are out-of ordinary-behaviors, but not to the point were it becomes humiliating. (a member suggested twerking,  but no one wants to see that ಠ_ಠ)

14:00- Tomorrow, we will be further discussing what will be on our poster.

Day 8:

13:19- Today, we are designing our poster. Fortunately, we will not need to worry about supplies for our experiment (with the exception of candy for rewards/bribes).  ◕ ‿‿ ◕

Day 9:

13:42- We have our our poster in the classroom, but we have not begun to decorate it yet. We are continuing to plan out what it will look like. I drew cats on the outside of the tri-fold so we can distinguish ours from the other posters quicker.

14:05- We will begin looking for supplies and information for the poster.

Middle section-

  • Includes information about Obedience to Authority
  • Information about our experiment
  • Title, Obedience to Authority (unless we can think of a more clever name)
  • Names
Left section-

  • Booth number
  • Research question
  • Summary, background research
Right section-
  • More information of the topic
  • Milgram experiment
  • More information, possibly the Nuremberg Trials
All sections will include visuals, could include cartoon, puzzles, quizzes, etc.

Day 10:

Psych fair is in few days! We're finally working on our poster, typing up the information that will be on it.

Day 11:

We're still working on the poster. We need to have it done by the end of class tomorrow. Our teacher wants us to take brief videos of our progress, but I don't think we will be doing that.

Day 12:

17:20- Psych Fair!!!

Are we even supposed to be updating our blogs anymore? I don't know!

Group 12 - How good is your memory?

Day 1: My partner Kyle  and I were assigned to conduct a memory experiment.  We began completing hand- out 11, 12, and 14.  We got off to a good start and we have continued through today to almost be half way done.  Since we only have 2 people, we both just worked on each hand-out simultaneously, and most of them were completed quickly.

Day 2: We began searching for experiments to talk about in hand-out 13.  We then talked about what exactly we planned to do during our experiment to properly demonstrate memory capabilities in various conditions.

Day 3: We worked on several worksheets the entire class period.

Day 4: My partner was gone so I tried to complete the assignments on my own, but was unable to get one of the sheets done, so we lost a few points for late work.

Day 5: We discussed specifically what our experiment would consist of.  Basically, we will read a list of words to a subject ad ask them to recite them as well as they can.  Then we will play music in the background as they try to remember another group listing.  We will also tell them that if they memorize the next list they will get a jolly rancher as a reward, and we will see how they perform.   And finally we will let them smell rosemary or lavender while trying to remember another list.  We will compare results and determine whether certain smells or music allow for better or worse memory.

Day 6: We worked on hand-outs 16 and 17, which were simple and easy, and then we began hand-out 19

Day 7: As Kyle completed 19, I worked on completing hand-out 18 and 20.  Everything is coming along nicely with no problems.  We decided that i will supply headphones for the music and wipes to clean them, while Kyle will take care of a poster and jolly ranchers.

Day 8: We completed the last of the worksheets, and began with a basic design for the poster.

Day 9: All we have left to complete is final touches on the ideas of the experiment and finish the poster, but the markers i brought do not show up on the poster, so we will have to wait another day.

Day 10:  I brought more markers that were erasable on the poster, so i thought we would have to wait again, but we figured out that Mr. V had markers and glue, so we nearly completed the poster.

Day 11: We entirely finished the poster and its looking great and now all we need is pictures to attract people our booth

Psych fair night for parents: The overall parent psych fair night went smoothly with no problems, and we feel we are ready for the actual psych fair.

Psych fair: In the end, the day was long and tiresome, but entertaining.  We got good results to analyze and prove or disprove our hypothesis that music and rewards will help memory.  Kyle and I handled the work load pretty evenly, as we each talked to the students and wrote data down.  The entire two week process came together nicely with few problems.

Group 17 - Smell and Memory

2-28-14 -Friday    Experiment- Do certain scents cause a positive or negative impact on our memory?

Day 1:  We were assigned our experiment today. Does certain scents cause a positive or negative impact on our memory? Today is a day spent organizing our thoughts and putting pieces of the experiment together. So far it is a lot on our shoulders. We are trying to put our thoughts into words and our words and images into action. My partner Amy and I over the next few days will be doing research on what smells impact our thinking for the better or worse. With three weeks to put together the this experiment, we hope that it will come together!

3-2-14 -Monday

Day 2: Amy and I are back together and working away!  As the experiment continues, today we will be doing some background research and will be gathering information about our experiment! Worksheet numbers 11-15 are due on Thursday. Now that we have developed out thesis, we are able to out together more major parts of our experiment. Our experiment question we have agreed on is, "Do certain scents cause a positive or negative impact on our memory?". Moving on to worksheet 15, we are figuring out what our independent, and dependent variables are going to be and if we are going to need a control group. So far, we have discussed many things as far as how we are going to conduct our experiment. Half of the people will smell lavender while recalling a list of 15 words after they have smelt nothing and recited another list of 15. We will do the same thing on others just with the scent of vanilla.

3-4-14 - Tuesday

Day 3: Today Amy and I will be doing research for previously done scientific experiments that prove that certain smells effect our thinking and memory. Amy will be writing our rough draft paper between today and tomorrow and then I will be finalizing the paper once she is done. While doing this research for the paper, on worksheet 13 there are questions that guide us as to what we are looking for and what we need to include in our paper. This is so far the most difficult worksheet out of the ones we have worked on so far. With 9 school days left to work on the project, there is still a lot to do!

3-5-14 - Wednesday

Day 4: Today Amy and I are finishing up our research on the experiments that have been previously done so that Amy can write the rough draft of our paper. 11-15 are due tomorrow and the paper is the last thing to do! Worksheets 16&17 are due on Friday. Hopefully things will become more interesting over the next few weeks and the research will be over! SO far it has not been stressful for us, just somewhat confusing. Coming up with ideas and finding out a way to execute it is the problem.

3-6-14 - Thursday

Day 5:  Exactly 2 WEEKS till the fair! With still a lot to do, more and more pieces are coming together. While Amy finishes up worksheet 13 for the end of the class, I have began working on worksheet 16 and 17 witch will be due tomorrow. Worksheet 16 just asks questions about the age, gender and any other requirements we have decided about for who we are testing. Amy and I have decided that we are testing Freshman-Senior class students and that we will be testing male and females. When we measure our experiment, we will be measuring between the different ages and also the amount they are able to memorize. We are still undecided on the factor of if we are going to compare the difference between he males and females or if we are going to combine everyone. Since worksheets 16&17 are due tomorrow, our teacher has 18-20 due Monday. Amy and I will be taking a look at those tomorrow and deciding the factors of how they will be getting done.

3-7-14 Friday

Day 6: Things are coming together well! Amy and I have completed worksheets 16&17 and have began 18-20. Things haven't been stressful and are getting easier as time goes on! As we get things more organized it becomes more fun and enjoyable! Now that we are set with our experiment procedure we are writing a list of what we are going to need (worksheet 20). Amy is getting the poster board over the weekend that way we can start to put it together hopefully next week!

3-10-14 Monday

Day 7: With a 4 day weekend on its way and the fair one week away, it's now crunch time! There's still a lot of paper work to fill out and yet a lot of manual work to do as well! Right now, we are filling out of supplies list and trying to structure our booth. We won't need any electrical outlets or electrical equipment so it shouldn't be all that hard to set up. We will have the poster board in class sometime this week so we can start the design! Worksheets 18-20 are due at the end of class today. It requires us to map out a set up of our booth and how we plan to set it up. It is organizing our supplies that we need and how and where we are going to get them or get them from. As time gets closer it is going to be more and more chaotic but it WILL happen! :)

3-11-14  Tuesday

Day 8: NO MORE WORKSHEETS! The rest of the sheets in the packet are for our own benefit. Once Amy finished up the rough draft, we will be all set. In the mean time, I am working on the organization of the poster and the lay out. The fair is in a little over a week and things are coming together well. Amy is going to start the poster when she finishes up the paper and the layout is complete. The stress that was once a big deal with having a week left is slowly going away as things come to a finish. We are becoming more and more excited the closer we get to see how our experiment will unfold and we are anxious for results.

3-12-14 Wednesday

Day 9:  Poster Board day! Today Amy and I will be outlining our poster board! We are gathering pictures and starting to draw things out! Amy went down to the fashion room to check out the press for some letters and I am here working on the bright red board. Amy and I had a laugh when she spelled my last name wrong on accident :p With a shortened period there's not a lot of time to work but hopefully Amy or I can bring it home from the weekend to work. Psych fair is less than a week away and the pressure is on as far as class time! Lay out and put together is Monday and supplies being put together on Tuesday and Wednesday next week!

3-17-14 Monday

Day 10: 3 DAYS!! The stress is on as Amy and I try to finish up the poster board and get supplies together! Coming back from a 4 day weekend adds to the stress as that has given us less days to work on the project.  Amy will be getting our rewards tonight and I have to get the scents, the rest of the supplies comes from paper, pencils and our timers. Making the board look creative, catchy and appealing is the tricky part. What do we put on it? What pictures can we use? Should we find past study results? 2 days to finish up and there's the last minute things to think about.

3-18-14 Tuesday

Day 11: The pressure is on as Amy and I try to finish up the poster and get the supplies! With tomorrow having a shortened hour, we will have to work extra hard to finish this up. With facts to find and pictures to print, there's still a lot to do. Tomorrow is parent night so everything must be complete by 5 pm tomorrow. Vanilla, Lavender and "Dum-Dum" suckers as a reward will be bought tonight.

3-19-14 Wednesday

Day 12: LAST DAY!! Tonight is parent night and tomorrow is the big day! While Amy puts the final touches to the poster, I am getting the materials together making sure that we have everything we need for this to be successful. Tonight is the night that we can see if we need anything else and make changes. Nervous of how tomorrow is going to play out, Amy and I are trying to remain as calm a we can. Hoping everything works out right and as planed.  As the period comes to an end, I have a few things I need to do after school to just touch things up. Other than that, things are all ready to go and we are ready to experiment!
